What is therapy?
Usually clients come to therapy in some kind of distress or unease about aspects of their lives but sometimes individuals come for insights and personal growth.
I view therapy as a collaborative adventure whereby we try to understand what is happening and why the individual is feeling, thinking and behaving in a particular way so that change can happen.
It is often useful to consider past experiences and how we have adapted to those experiences.
Person-Centred Counselling is the approach that I work within. The therapeutic relationship that forms the basis of this approach allows you to explore the issues or situations that cause you difficulty. Together we can focus on what prevents you from getting the most out of your life and relationships. This involves looking at all aspects of your experience - your thinking, the meaning and sense that you have of your world, your feelings and emotions, your behaviours and also your needs. Working in this way helps you to integrate these different aspects of your experience to allow your natural healing tendency to emerge.
I aim to provide a safe, non judgmental space to explore your concerns. I believe in offering this it will allow you to connect to your own healing potential. To empower you to grow and discover that which is within you to allow your true self to emerge.
